Two costs, both shown before you confirm. And one that doesn’t exist here at all.

The spread

0.5% to 3% of your trade, and usually near the low end. This is what pays for having a counterparty available at every moment. Numera takes the other side of every trade instantly, at any hour, in any size — no waiting, no order book, no partial fills. The spread funds that. It’s the same idea as the gap between the buy and sell price at a currency desk. Both increases keep pricing fair when someone trading is more likely to know something the market hasn’t caught up with. Trade in ordinary conditions and you’ll pay the minimum most of the time.

The trading fee

A small percentage set per market, with a hard 5% ceiling. The ceiling is fixed in the system itself, not set by policy — whatever a market’s fee is when you place a trade, it stays that way. And most markets run well below the cap.
Claiming winnings is free. You paid on the way in; there’s nothing further to pay on the way out.

Why there are no network fees

Every blockchain charges for every action, and normally you pay it — in a separate token you have to acquire, hold and monitor. Numera removes that entirely. Nothing to buy, nothing to top up, nothing to run out of at the wrong moment. That’s genuinely useful on its own, and it’s also part of the privacy design:
1

Your trading accounts stay clean

Each one exists purely to hold your positions.
2

Numera covers the network cost

You approve a trade on your device; Numera’s system submits it and pays.
3

No funding trail is created

Your accounts never need topping up, so there’s nothing connecting them back to you. That’s what keeps them unlinkable.
One less thing to manage, and stronger privacy at the same time.

A worked example

You put $100 on an outcome trading at 50 cents, in a calm market with a 1% fee. If the outcome comes in, those shares are worth $197. Sell before the deadline instead and you receive the current market value, with the same small spread and fee applied on the way out.
